Back Flow Prevention Program

In an effort to protect our community’s water “system,” the Joshua Basin Water District has an active “Back Flow Prevention” program, headed by one of our own State Certified staff members. Prevention of commercial or residential contaminated water flowing back into our tap water distribution system is a priority (think chemical or biological waste from businesses, such as automotive, construction, health services or similar industries, or pesticides and household cleaners from local residences.) Back flow prevention devices are utilized in new construction, commercial expansion and remodeling, however the former homes and establishments may not offer adequate protection to our community’s water supply. Water District Board members receive an up close and personnel explanation of the “Back Flow Prevention Program” from Kelly, our staff member, who is State Certified and oversees the program, protecting the tap water distribution system for the Joshua Tree community.
